There’s Some Good News, and Some…NOT So Good News….
Hello. Happy New Year and all that stuff. Hope everyone had a bad ass holiday, etc. If you didn’t see it, right around the Christmas shopping season Invisible Oranges ran the premier of our latest single, “Immaculate Consumption”. It’s a little ditty about anti consumerism, vanity, etc. You know, the perfect song for the holiday season. Thank you very much to the IO staff ! Shameless plugs aside, there was some good news to bring the new year in. We got an email from the booking agent of all too influential band Killing Joke. He asked us if we could do him a “favor” and play the Fillmore in San Francisco with them at the end of January. Sure. No problem, we can swing that. What?! Are you SHITTING ME? Killing Joke! We hella juiced. Besides Killing Joke being one of my favorite bands (thanks Metallica ;), the Fillmore is one of the more historically awesome venues in the SF Bay Area. The list of bands/artists that have graced that stage is too long and mind blowing to think about while I’m trying to write this. So here’s a link to their website and you can the awesomeness for yourself.
We were trying to work it out to play a few more dates with them throughout the Northwest, following the San Francisco show. Literally a day before that email from KJ’s booking agent, we received a message from OUR booking agent to inform us that due to health and some real serious life issues he could no longer continue booking our Spring/Summer tour. Our 6 month run that he had started booking last August. So for one day, we were hella bummed out, next day you get an email you’re playing your dream venue with a band you’ve been listening too since you’re preteen days. Pretty cool right…? Well…fast forward to a few days ago, we got an email informing us that KJ had to cancel their US dates due to an injury and subsequent surgery one of the members due to was have in Europe where they live. No tour, no dream show, boo.
But…we’re not hanging our heads at all. KJ’s booking agent let us know that when they figure everything out and come back out this way (hopefully this year) we can still play SHOWS with them. That’s HELLA huge. Also, we decided to continue to book our own tour for the Spring/Summer. Always a daunting task, but we’re willing to do what we have to do to enable us to bring this art we do to every nook and cranny we can fit ourselves into. Chicky took this as a call to turn a negative into a positive. She started booking out a tour for us in Southeast Asia. WHAT?! Yep, in November we’ll be in the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. Hopefully, we’ll have more details in the coming weeks about that, but I’m pretty stoked for that. A refusal to quit is what we pride ourselves on. We can’t stay down for too long right? We’re working on a Southeast Asia only release that we’ll sell there physically only. It will of course include songs off “Clarity”, but it will have some stuff from the “Black Sheep:REMIXED” as well as a few BRAND NEW CUTS so we’re juiced for that.
Let’s see…what else is going on..OH! A good friend of ours is in charge of a small TV station, and wanted to film a little reality TV thing on us, our life touring, living in a music rehearsal space in the bowls of one of the more violent cities in America, etc. He’s coming this weekend to start some filming. When we get more info OF COURSE WE’RE GONNA LET Y’ALL KNOW WHAT’S UP.
So it was good checking in with you people, talk to you soon. I’m working on a 4 part review of all the Metallica albums POST the black album. It should be enjoyably interesting.
See Many of You on the #LFADMClarityTour2016
